Managing family funds can be like walking on a tight rope at times. I remember that things were quite different before my first baby was born. My husband and I both worked and had successful careers. With money coming in from two sources, and just the two of us to spend it on, we would often binge. Whether it was a shopping spree, a night out with friends or taking a weekend trip out of town, we would always select the best regardless of how much it cost. We were members of recreational clubs and actively involved ourselves in activities. I had developed a passion for online shopping, looking for good deals. I also have a thing for gambling. We have a casino close to our place where I would go with my husband on Saturdays.

When I was expecting my first child, I knew we were in for some drastic changes to our lifestyle. A baby needs a world of things that don’t come cheap. So we cut down on our shopping, often waiting for discount sales. Having a baby around also leaves you with little or no time for outings. If a baby can’t be taken to a place (like a casino), then we could not go there either as we did not have anyone to help us take care of the child at home. Luckily, we have a computer with an internet connection at home. I now gamble at an online casino and don’t have to leave home to indulge in this hobby. Of course, I don’t gamble too much money now. With a baby around you can’t really take too many risks!

Although there have been some massive changes to our living I guess the joy of having a baby around more or less makes up for it all! Give me an hour of cuddles to shopping and partying any day!

Parents and friends can be overly helpful when telling you how to run your household. Whether they are trying to tell you what is the best mobile phone or how you should raise your kids, you have to learn to take advice with a grain of salt. One of the hardest things about being a young married wife was learning to leave the advice from my friends on the doorstep so that I could be the best wife and mother I could be for my family. Learning this balance of respect and self confidence was one of the best things I have learned in my marriage.

I remember standing in the hallway of my son’s preschool. He was being as stubborn and ornery as he could be, and I was struggling to control my own frustration and exhaustion. An older lady walked by and saw me trying to control my outrageous child, and told me, “You know, you just have to be really strict with kids when they get like that. You have to let him know who is boss.” She walked on, and it was hardly 10 minutes later when another lady walked by and told me, “You should be easier on him. Just give him a little more freedom and he’ll be fine.” I was not, at the time, amused by the irony, but it did teach me that it is impossible to listen to everyone.

From then on I tried to create my own method of parenting my children as I saw what worked and fit with my family. As a true people-pleaser, it was hard for me to not feel obligated to follow the directions of everyone around me, but my husband was the first to point out how much happier I was when I wasn’t trying to obey orders from twenty, or even 10, different directions!

In the current world of busy family lives, moms have to work hard to take care of themselves so they can act as organizer while following the revolving task list that helps family life run smoothly. From kid’s sports practice to school meetings to work projects and husband needs, moms often put themselves last and end up feeling run down or collapsing into a sick heap because they have not taken time to rest and restore their bodies. Investing in taking care of Mom is a good investment for the entire family. If mom falls apart, everything falls apart and comes to a screeching halt.

Making time for Mom can be as simple as making sure to take a long bath alone, with the kids occupied and happy with Daddy or a trusted caregiver. A bath is not relaxing if the kids are pounding on the door or crying and demanding attention. For moms to be able to relax and care for themselves, the kids must be happy and well cared for at the same time. Taking the time to snuggle in bed with a book after the kids are asleep instead of dashing around doing last minute chores will give mom a break and a good start toward a restful night. Chores can wait until tomorrow when she is well rested.

Moms these days are chefs, taxi drivers, maids, laundresses and sometimes even paid employees. Many moms hold a full time job in addition to their chief job as the CEO of the home base. Moms hold jobs in property management, real estate and medicine; the list goes on and on. Moms are capable of doing whatever they wish to do. That being said, most moms will say that the most important role they will ever play is the one they star in; being wife and mom to those waiting at home.

Whether you’re a mom or a dad – or neither one just yet – there are all kind of online activities out there for you to enjoy. One of the most enjoyable options for anyone who likes sports are the sports betting sites. You can bet on your favorite teams and play the odds to see if you can win big. Sports betting isn’t new, of course, but it’s relatively new to the Internet, and it’s a lot of fun for people who follow sports closely. If you’re not that much of a sports nut you might have a hard time winning too often, but you could still get lucky.

If you’re going to bet on sports, don’t assume that you can do it all. Pick a sport that interests you. Even a couple sports are fine, just don’t choose five or six. That will make it too hard to follow. Then, make sure you follow that sport very closely for quite a while before you start placing any bets. If you can get practice bets with ‘play money,’ so much the better. That way you’ll start to get a feel for how good you’re actually doing at betting on sports.

You’ll get a chance to see if you’re doing good and would be making money, or if you’re consistently losing more than you’re winning. If you can’t seem to win consistently, it may be time to try a different sport or a different tactic as to how you’re dealing with choosing your bets. If you still don’t know enough about the sport, spend more time studying. You don’t want to make rookie mistakes with real money when a few more days or weeks of study could have helped you avoid all of that.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself with neighbors and friends. You see a neighbor installing a bigger swing set with all of the bells and whistles and before you know it, you find yourself examining an upgrade to the swing set that you now own. Parked at the grocery store, you notice the SUV next to you has multimedia screens for each child, individual headphones included–a perk your vehicle is missing. Instantly you begin calculating the monthly payment on a new SUV. It’s normal, it’s human, and it’s dangerous. Considering the purchase of anything that will throw your family finances into chaos is never a good idea. Cash loans should never be considered for anything but a genuine emergency. Never go into debt to keep up with your neighbors and friends.

Here is a list of the most common gotta-have-it pitfalls many families fall victim to:

*A television in every room, gaming system included, is not necessary; it’s not even a good idea. Families can learn a lot about mutual cooperation by sharing a television.

*A computer in every room is never a good idea. A family computer in a common area means the ability to monitor sites visited and social networking contacts.

*A smart phone for each child, with unlimited texting and Web access, is a tool your kids don’t need. Instead, consider a pay-as-you-go phone for each child you want to stay connected with.

*Expensive designer clothes can be a crippling crutch that actually diminishes self esteem. Don’t allow your children to fall into the trap of being defined by what they wear.

*A car is not the only present to give a sixteen year old. Foster a healthy work ethic and a sense of responsibility by encouraging your teen driver to save for a car of their own.

And remember, just be happy with what you have!

With today’s struggling economy, it’s so important to watch how we spend our money. My family and I try our best to budget our monthly income, balancing bill paying while trying to schedule miscellaneous activities like “family night” or “date night.” We try to be smart with our money and save when we can–if it were something as simple as using coupons at the store or buying generic brands. Most of the time, because we keep our finances in order, we can take certain luxuries like eating out or buying the kids extra toys.

However, there have been times when money is tight. During especially difficult times, we forgo going out and just play games at home. Sometimes we make our own popcorn at home and rent a movie that everyone wants to see. I think a lot of families go through situations like that, but eventually they can get back on their feet.

There have also been instances when emergencies arise and there are unexpected expenses that need to be addressed. Sometimes things are beyond our financial control and we are forced to look for ways to borrow money. If family or friends are unable to lend us money, my partner and I have taken out payday loans to solve our short-term money problems. When there is no other option for borrowing money before the next paycheck, payday loans are certainly useful.

For the most part, I would say that my family and I go out in moderation. We try not to do things we cannot afford to do, but that is not to say that we don’t ever have money problems. If there is a short-term financial obstacle we need to address, we’ve had to be extra strict with our future spending and even borrow money if necessary. We do our best to make ends meet and keep our family happy and stress-free.

If you’re a busy mom, one of the things you probably spend a lot of time doing is trying to save money. That’s very important, because kids can be expensive. You have to save money where you can, so you’re better able to spend money on the things that really matter to you and your family. If you don’t save your money for the really important things, you might not have money to fully enjoy them when they arrive. With online shopping becoming so very important today, there are plenty of choices when it comes to saving money – including many that weren’t available just a few short years ago.

Buying clothes is a big deal, but that’s not the only thing you need. When your children start getting into school, for example, Staples coupon codes can save you a great deal of money on school supplies. You can do your shopping online that way, too, so you won’t be stuck at a crowded store with a bunch of other moms and their kids. School shopping can actually be quite stressful because there are always so many people trying to get the same things in a very small space.

By buying most of what you need online, you’ll not only save money but you’ll save time and aggravation. You can think more clearly and react more calmly when you’re sitting in a quiet space with your computer, and your kids can still have the opportunity to pick out some of the things that they really like. All the basics, though, you can order any time. That makes things so much more convenient and it’ll give you more high-quality, enjoyable, and rewarding time to spend with your kids, which is the best part about being a mom.

Pregnancy is an exciting time when you are filled with fun and joy for the arrival of the infant. However, it is also a time when you should focus on money and focus on securing the future of your child.

This responsibility can conflict with your urge and desire to look beautiful and pretty during your pregnancy. You may feel the urge to purchase fashion accessories and enjoy looking at yourself in the mirror. You may not bother about these things in your day to day routine but pregnancy is a completely different phase of life. So, how should you satisfy your desire to look fashionable and still save money?

Check out online resources like gap coupon codes that help you save money on each and every purchase. It is not necessary to search for discounts related to fashion accessories alone. As long as you save money on your purchases, you can use it anyway you want.

The biggest advantage of using online coupons is that you can shop without even stepping out of your house. When you are pregnant, your family members may not be comfortable sending you alone to the mall for shopping. You may feel guilty for asking your in-laws or your husband to spend so much time catering to your whims and fancies.

Shopping online helps you take care of these issues without any difficulty. Not only do you save money, but you are also in a position to take care of yourself. When you do not step out of your house and yet can buy everything that you want, it relieves the danger of any health trouble.

As long as you choose the right shopping site, you can avoid compromise as far as choice and variety is concerned. You can even checkout baby products to purchase after the child is born.

If you’ve ever read the talk of some self help gurus, you would think that all you had to do was say a few affirmations, go out with an intention, and you can build your fortune in practically no time. Unfortunately, there is always the implication that they are trying to sell you something, and that the only abundance comes out of convincing you to feel abundant enough to give them your money. Far too often in life, it’s kind of hard to be abundant. They say you need to fake it until you make it, but sometimes it can get a little hard, especially when you have bills to pay and kids to raise.

A lot of moms use their children as an excuse for their own fears. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with taking a chance on a business idea, and in most cases, your children shouldn’t be holding you back. Think about it; your children are a part of you. You wouldn’t do something drastic enough to hurt them (like selling everything you own and living in a tent) for the same reason you wouldn’t do something like that to yourself. The notion that your children are what hold you back from doing what you really want is kind of like the price for a car making you never leave the house.

While you may not be wearing the right outfit for a particular situation (like overalls to a formal occasion), there is no time when your children should keep you from your dreams. In fact, having kids is the best reason to shoot for the stars. You want to give them a great role model to follow, don’t you? And what could be better than showing your kids that with a dream, a plan and a little gumption, you can make your dreams come true? Don’t let fear hold you back.

Hospital and doctor costs for a pregnancy can be enormous. If you are a single mom, or don’t have one of those rare medical insurances that cover pregnancy, or if you need special treatment like a cesarean, make sure you have enough money to bring your child into the world properly.

A prepaid credit card can be a good way to pay for pregnancy. Save some money over time and put into the credit card; then, when you need it, you can be sure you would spend just as much as you can afford. Although this calls for some planning and luck (that nothing unplanned happens), it is good if you remember that expenses begin, not end, with your delivery.

There are so many costs associated with pregnancy, delivery, and stages post delivery. Pregnancy may create medical conditions like fibroid and hemorrhages, and will also involve higher food expenses. Delivery often involves hospitalization these days, and a cesarean needs two to three doctors in attendance, a medium scale surgery, and a host of other stuff. There is usually a deal of blood loss, which involves good post operative care, services of a nurse or a maid at home, and other assorted paraphernalia.
