Choosing Baby Clothes
Your baby is on the way or has just arrived! What an exciting time of your life! He or she is surely going to be surrounded by love and protection. And now you need to make sure that the baby clothes you choose are safe and comfortable.
Because of a baby’s amazing growth rate in the early weeks of his or her lives, you may not want to buy a lot of newborn sizes. If you received some of these tiny-sized clothes as gifts, keep the tags on, so you can exchange them for a larger size.
When you choose your child’s clothes make sure it is an easy on and off. Full snap openings at the bottom or a full-length zipper will ensure that you can dress your baby easily and safely. Just ensure that these zippers, snaps and pulls are not located where they can cause discomfort to your baby. If it’s a pull-over, such as a sweater or T-shirt, make sure the neckpiece is stretchy and soft. All of us have probably experienced that uncomfortable feeling that comes from pulling too-tight clothing over our heads.
Tiny baby feet need those tiny baby socks. Because these tiny socks have a way of falling off, try to find socks that fit your baby’s foot. And of course shoes are probably not a requirement for your tiny one, but are more of a fashion statement. If you decide to put shoes on your baby, be sure that they are soft and comfortable. Also make sure you don’t have to struggle to “stuff” the tiny one’s foot into the shoe.
And because you’ll want to spend a lot of your time with your baby, rather than washing clothes, make sure that your baby’s clothes are easy to take care of. Check the labels to make sure they are machine washable and can dry in the dryer.
